With its ever-evolving changes and updates, Shopify always makes it to the headlines of the eCommerce landscape. In 2024, Shopify altered its plans and how they compare. Although there are no subscription pricing changes, some modifications may encourage you to upgrade your plan. Additionally, some of the changes are beneficial.

While some changes are positive, many got a negative tag and added limitations compared to the previous offering. See how Shopify has changed plan features and pricing in this blog. Also, evaluate how these changes impact your business.

To start with:

1. The trial plan of $1 is now for 30 Days Instead of 90 days

If you’re starting your Shopify store, take advantage of the FREE TRIAL that lasts 3 days. You’ll only have to pay $1 for the first month of any paid plan you select. It’s worth noting that the $1 offer used to be valid for 3 months, but it has now been reduced to 1 month.

2. Plan Access has increased to 60+ Reports

All plans now have access to 60+ standard analytics reports, including previously restricted sales, profit, customer, and marketing reports in Starter and Basic plans.

This change will apply to all merchants, both new and existing.

You can access the new reports under Analytics > Reports if you are on Basic.

3. No Extra Staff Accounts for Starter & Basic Plans

Previously, adding 2 extra staff members to your store was the standard norm. However, this option is no longer available for Starter and Basic plans. The number on other plans remains the same: 5 on the Shopify plan and 15 on the Advanced plan. There are also no changes to the collaborator accounts.

4. Custom Market Numbers Reduced to 3 from 50

It’s important to note that there has been a change in the number of markets that can be added to the Basic plan. Previously, you could add up to 50 different markets, but now there is a limit of 3 for all plans.

If you require more than 3 markets, you must upgrade to the Advanced plan and pay an additional $59 per month for each market added, with a maximum limit of 50 markets.

5. “Prioritized Chat Support Access” for Advanced Plan

Merchants with the Advanced plan can access prioritized chat support, while Basic and Shopify plans offer standard 24/7 live chat.

6. Shopify Plus Price Increased ($2000 to $2500)

The Shopify Plus plan now costs $2,500 per month, but you can get a discounted rate of $2,300 per month if you commit to a 3-year plan.

Note – It is worth noting that the changes only affect new merchants. Existing merchants will continue to have the same plan features, except report access.

Bottom Line

It is important to note that specific changes can be beneficial and enhance the value, while others can be crucial in determining the decisions made in a plan. However, even with these changes, the Basic plan still offers significant value and is suitable for effectively running an online business. It is the cheapest solution for selling an unlimited number of products.
